We were thrilled to wish Peter a happy 86th birthday, he's been singing with us for 31 years, pretty much since the club started. We were also joined by another senior member, Shon who's a youthful 84 so we just had to take a photo for the album (Peter's the one with beard at the front with Shon on his right). Age is no barrier to singing, it's a great way to stay active, socialise and enjoy the fun that only four part harmony singing can give you.

I know it's still only the middle of August but given the weather recently you could be forgiven in thinking that Autumn has started, but luckily it hasn't and I do hope summer returns soon. However, meanwhile we're getting ready for a busy Autumn, firstly we have our Come and Sing course in early October and then just after that we are proud to be part of the Beatles Concert. We really enjoyed the last Beatles concert back in 2011 and the next one on Oct 20th will surely be as memorable, it's a fund raiser for WIllen Hospice which is a great reason to have a concert.

Last month we travelled up to Harrogate for the annual British Association of Barbershop Singers convention. This is a national event where about 40 choruses from around the country come together to compete and enjoy lots of singing both on stage and socially. The standard just keeps getting higher but we were most pleased with our performance after lots of hard work leading up to the convention. Work now starts to learn some new songs and thing about what we'll be doing at the next convention in Bournmouth 2017.

Our local pub, the Ship Ashore in Willen  has just been renovated and what better way to repay the landlord than to join in on the opening night by singing a few old favourite songs. We normally go there at leas once a month after rehearsals so it was a pleasure to go there on a Friday evening to add a bit of harmony to the evening. We wish Ant & all his staff the best of luck for 2016 in their newly decorated pub and we look forward to being there again soon.
